Travel Health
Do you need Travel vaccinations?
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make a telephone appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required. Please note to avoid dissapointment please book your travel vaccination as early as possible prior to your travel date.
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work. It would help our team if you could complete the travel assessment form below and submit this to us ahead of making your initial appointment.
The practice only provides travel vaccines that are available to patients free on the NHS
Which travel vaccines are free?
The following travel vaccines are available free on the NHS
- polio (given as a combined diphtheria/tetanus/polio jab)
- typhoid
- hepatitis A
- cholera
These vaccines are free because they protect against diseases thought to represent the greatest risk to public health if they were brought into the country. Should you require additional travel vaccinations you will need to contact a private travel clinic to arrange these.
Select the region you are travelling to find out more.
Travel Assessment
To help us offer the appropriate advice, please fill out the online form before coming to see the nurse. Please complete and submit the travel form in plenty of time (we recommend 6-8 weeks) before your journey.
